  • Updated to 1.2 but no presets in LayR Audio Unit:
    To copy existing presets to the Audio Unit you need to run the stand-alone app once.  Prior to 1.2 LayR’s presets were stored in the iTunes documents folder. With 1.2 they are now stored in an area which is shared between IAA and all instances of Audio Unit. When you run the app for the first time after updating it will ask you to allow it to copy presets to the new location.  ( If you’re using the AU remember to quit the IAA app because that is also an instance of LayR!  )

  • Please Read the Manual!
    If there’s a manual provided with an app please read through it before contacting us to ask for help.

  • Audio stutters when LayR goes to background or comes to foreground.
    This should not happen but it can sometimes and, if it does, it’s often because some other process is causing the CPU to be overly busy.
    The cure is usually to force restart your device and or to force quit other apps that are also using a lot of CPU.

    Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
    - On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch:
    Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo

  • Will LayR continue to be updated and bugs squashed promptly?
    This is a question that comes up quite regularly so here’s the deal … The answer is a big YES!
    As the developer I designed LayR for myself to use live, so that alone means I don’t want any buggy software crashing on me while I’m on stage! Also I hate bugs, I find them just as annoying as you do and I squash them flat as soon as they appear ( or asap ).
    As for LayR’s longevity, that depends on many factors but it is certainly the intention of Living Memory Software to continue to update and improve LayR for as long as it’s possible to do so. Bear in mind that it takes considerable effort and time and that means development can only happen while funds are available to live on, LayR’s price reflects the year of development time it took to create it and by paying that price you are contributing to it’s future! 

  • iPad Air 2 CPU usage.
    During testing with iOS 11 we’ve noticed sometimes the iPad Air2 will report higher than usual CPU usage and force resetting just once doesn’t appear to always cure the problem.
    If you notice this happening, try force restarting the iPad 2 or 3 times in a row. This may seem odd, and indeed it is, but it does seem to fix the issue!

Top priority goes to serious bug reports or problems with our software and also the press/media and we will try to get back to you asap, often within 24 hours.
Sadly lower priority has to be given to wish lists and requests for app features that are sent to our support mailbox.
If our mail load is very heavy you might not receive a reply if you are sending us a wish list. Please do not be offended in this case and know that we really do take note of all requests for new features and upgrades, they all go directly onto a list from which we pick and choose the ones we think we can implement in time.
